Wireless Charging - the game changer

Forecasting and predictions have been used in numerous industries overtime to move forward or roll out products and ideas. There are numerous predictions and forecasting which within the last 5 to 10 years have been significant movers and shakers of the direction in which technology goes in.
One of the most significant predictions that came about, in my opinion, is that of wireless charging. Farkas (2018), gives an overview that wireless charging has become a big hit within the last couple of years. Most folks today own a wireless charger for their mobile device which is added to the innovation that Nikola Tesla predicted years ago. Tesla not only predicted the surge in popularity of wireless charging but one of his products was the creation of Alternating current, of which he predicted one day that this would be able to go wirelessly for great distances. Though, we have accomplished the distances portion yet, starting from not being able to plug a device in to charge it is a great start.
What enabled this prediction to come through as stated earlier, starting from just Tesla’s creation of the Alternating Current. Downs (2018) states “Between 1888 and 1906, Nikola Tesla spent most of his time and fortune on a series of projects to develop the transmission of electrical power without wires.” This project had been poured into by its original innovator, Tesla, and has been driven by the automotive and communication industry mostly as of lately.  The amazing part is that not only phones are eyed for charging wireless but also vehicles.
With the boom of the wireless charging technology within the last couple of years, it is predicted that there may be an “over-the-air” wireless charging. Dolcourt (2019), states “At CES 2019, the dream of over-the-air wireless charging became a lot more real with WattUp, a transmitter-and-receiver technology for distance charging. "This technology will be in a smartphone," said Steve Rizzone, the CEO of Energous, the company behind the WattUp brand that's at the forefront of the over-the-air charging space.” This will be a tremendous addition and game changer for wireless charging. All of this is driven by the market and the need for flexibility and comfort. In today’s society, the development of technology primarily surrounds the need by the market and the impact this will have on the typical household. Without comfort and flexibility, technological products will not gain much ground.
